Our Verdict

I have used this unit whilst travelling during the heatwave through Europe in my vintage camper. Usually I use my phone for GPS, but with the heat and charging the phone usually would overheat. Not once during the last 2000km of travelling in intense heat has the device ceased to function! I am very impressed what you get for the money.
However it is not a super fast interface, and the white colour balance is not the greatest. For instance if you use white google maps interface it is hard to distinguish the light grey roads vs white parts of terrain. Not really a problem when you have a destination set with the blue route line. Apple Maps looks and works much better though. Surprising as I never liked/used Apple Maps in the past.
It takes about 1-2 minutes to turn on and connected to the Apple Carplay/Android Auto mode fully to your phone. I have tried both items as I carry a Samsung and Apple phone. Sometimes the Apple Carplay would disconnect, but I suspect it is my phone a bit older(iPhone 7+).
I play Spotify through my phone on the device, whilst running maps at the same time, and transmit the audio through my radio FM. It is also easy to remove from the car for security purposes. I cannot recommend the item enough if you require a standalone affordable item for GPS/Music whilst on the go in an older vehicle. But keep in mind you need to connect a phone, it cannot work on it's own if you had a wifi hotspot.
